Witness Statement: new years eve was a very clear nights sky, i happened to be looking at the stars when i saw a red glow, i said to my partner and our friend, "look there is a shooting star", they both looked up and saw it, thats when we noticed it could not be a star, as it was changing directions, it was travelling very fast, it went out of our sight then came back around and was directly above us, something shot out the side of it and then it took off again, it was bizzare ....
i kept watching, hopeing it would come back but we never saw it again....

i saw one about 2 hours ago above christchurch too, it was black and round and had about 10 lights around it and i thought it was a shooting star too thats why it caught my eye. it was going in random directions, sometimes fast and sometimes slow and it just stayed in the same place for a bit i was watching it for a good 5 mins then lost it when it went behind a cloud

forgot to mention it was night time, 11.00pm i was outside having a cigarette
