Haslington, Crewe-22nd March 2009
Location of Sighting: Haslington, Crewe, Cheshire
Date of Sighting: 22nd March 2009
Time: 20.05 hrs
Witness: Russell Barnes
Witness Statement: My wife and I were at the front door of our house, saying goodbye to three relatives when in the sky to the east, we saw a large orange light in the sky. At first we thought it was the moon, then possibly a hot air balloon as the colour looked just like a ballon when its burner is ignited. The balloon theory was discounted as it moved to the right too quickly and there was no wind. The light was initially stationary and there was no noise. The five of us stoof in our front garden and watched the light, which appeared to be stationary, or else travelling towards us. This was no plane as there were no navigation lights and there was no noise. After a minute or so, the light moved to our right and then moved quickly to the right before travelling away from us in an easterly direction at about 45 degrees from where we first saw it. We watched the light for another minute or so as it went out of our view. The sky appeared cloudy as we could not see any stars. All five of us saw this object in the sky as we were all amazed by it and were discussing what it could be whilst we were watching it for maybe two or three minutes.
I can say it was not an aeroplane as the light we could see was the same when it was stationary/coming towards us, as when it travelled to the right and then away from us. It was surrounded by an orange coloured glow. Therefore, the light could not have been the headlights of an aeroplane.

We saw it too! I have seen this light on FOUR different occasions with different people. I have seen it twice in Sandbach town centre, once in haslington, and once in sandbach heath.
I can’t think of any explanation at all. I have also thought of the hot air balloon theory etc but it just makes NO sense.
Please get in touch if you have any ideas!

I saw what sounds like the exact same thing over congleton on 22/05/09 at 2200. I dialled 999 after first of all thinking it was a plane on fire. However after watching for several mins it turned away and climbed out of sight, it was totally silent. Never seen anything like it before, and still no idea what it could have been.

we saw the same things on saturday night flying over Crewe! Silent, and looking like a balloon with a ball of fire at it’s base, and moving quite quickly, we video’d it too! The zoom in on the photo is abit spooky!

On the 1st July 2009 we were travelling on the M6 southbound around 11.20 pm between J17 – J16 (Sandbach – Stoke). We noticed a firey orange object (Ball of fire) traveling from South east to Northwest across the motorway. We initialy thought that the object was low due to the speed and size of the glow, however we soon realised that it was fairly high in the sky and was travelling quite fast- we compared the speed to an aircraft in the sky 5 mins later.
We even thought it could be an aircraft on fire but have not seen any reports about aircraft fires since.

14th November 2009
3 of us saw something flying through the sky on Saturday 14th November at around 11pm and it was very much as described above. An orange fire in the sky moving very quickly in a straight line coming from over Shavington way and across far beyond the station and kept going until out of sight. Looked a bit like a bag on fire or a hot air ballon but I believe it to have been neither of these – just wouldn’t make sense. Anyone else see it last night?

14th December 2009
Crewe Cheshire, Elm Drive,
About 7pm we think we had the best view yet of the flying fireball, about 100 ft above our heads going quite slow we saw what can only be descibed as a hot air balloon basket completely on fire but without the balloon attached,no shape above the object which would have been illuminated by the flames,it gave off no sound as it moved in a straight line along the road,it was a clear night with no wind so how it moved we dont know it was the strangest thing we have ever seen.
