Sale Moor, Cheshire-2nd May 2009
Location of Sighting: Sale Moor, Cheshire
Date of Sighting: 2nd May 2009
Time: approx 10 pm
Witness: Michael Timmins
Witness Statement: I observed an orange light below the cloud cover, a steady light , no other lights, about minus 3 magnitude travelling from south to north, it looked like a bright Arcturus, a steady speed similar to the ISS but the ISS is white, it could not have been a plane into Manchester Airport, not a meteorite or sattellite re entry, i feel .There was no breakup. It was observed by other people up the road from me.Was it a hot air balloon ?. About five minutes later a plane aapeared to follow its path, i thought it was going into Manchester Airport but it was very loud and the engines seemed to stop very quickly, afterburner i wonder ?. I am an amateur astronomer for the record.

I saw this light too at around the same time – I am in Hazel Grove in Stockport. I saw the plane come almost in collision with the light – which was a large bright orange light – I also saw something ‘break away’ from the light and fall to the ground at which point the whole orange light burnt out – there are two other people who were with me that saw it …. I wonder what it was????

Last night (20th July 2009) in Warrington, me and my wife witnessed a bright yellow / orange light move slowly across a clear sky from north to south . The light seemed to faded once a distance away. The light then reappeared on the horizon but didn’t move. No sound was emitted from the object and planes were ruled out as many flew over during. My honest opinion is it could have been a Chinese lantern, very popular at the moment.

i also saw this light i live in nantwich cheshire.it was moving across the sky at quite some speed with no sound, and it was far to big to be a chinese lantern as suggested above.it was easy the size of a jumbo jet.

My partner saw a similar orange light in the sky last night at about 22:15 (27th July 2009). We live in Winsford. It was very bright and silent and flew over our house from West to East. It appeared to be moving much faster than a plane. When it flew over the house we ran to the back where we could still see it in the distance then as soon as it appeared it vanished.
