Hillsborough, County Down-17th July 2009
Location of Sighting: near Hillsborough, County Down
Date of Sighting: 17 July 2009
Time: aproximately 23.35 hours
Witness Name: Joseph Parker
Witness Statement: Four very bright orange lights in the night sky traveling almost due East. The lights were flying in a ‘loose’ formation spread about 3 or 4 miles apart and at an elevation of several thousand feet. There was no noticeable noise and my wife and myself watched the lights for about 1 to 2 minutes before our vision was obscured by cloud. I reported the lights to Police but they had no knowledge of what they might be.
I am well familiar with observations of planes and these lights were like nothing I have ever seen before.

I live in Southport and have also just experienced those orange balls just above my house. A police helicoptor was also present and followed them but one by one they shot into the distance and disappeared behind cloud. I first saw 3 glowing orbs quite big and blowing a bright orange. as I looked through the patio windows I could see 3 orange lights coming over the houses, I shouted for my friend to see them as I knew straight away they were moving erraticly as if bobbing. My friend joined me outside as another one came flying into our vision and then in rotation five more flew slowly before excellerating beyond the clouds. These orbs are being reported all over the world even in remote places, its creepy. I have been a spectic but I think that has changed now! Why hasn’t these sightings been reported in the press? I am baffled!

Hi.
?In the early hours of this morning (at about 12.33am 18th July) I also saw about 12-15 of these orange lights!
I am not one to believe in UFO’s but this was one of the strangest things I have ever seen! There was variable cloud cover with it being partly cloudy in total. I had reached M4 junction to turn off at the A34 to head back to Portsmouth. Anyhow – about a mile down the road just past where the A34 has the Newbury turn off, it was then that I saw these floating lights…they were possibly as what has been observed, 1,000 feet up (slightly below cloud level?). They appeared to be floating and moving in a northerly direction. I have no idea what it was…but there there then reports of light sightings across the country telephoned in to BBC Radio 5 live. There was someone interviewed from Shoreham-on-Sea and another person who observed something similar in Sheffield. I caught that someone else had also contacted them to say that they saw these too as they were heading southbound down the A34. It has really baffled me as I say and was one of the most surreal sights I have ever seen! At first, I thought it was the streetlights from one of the overhead roads that you go under at that part of the A34 but soon realised this wasn’t the case! All in all, I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what these orange lights were? My inclanation was that they were orange lanterns but if they were, they were not over any urbanised area but over rural countryside just ouside of Newbury! They could be described as floating like Chinese lanterns, but I do not believe that they were anything of the sort…it was far too erie! If there was some sort of event taking place here with such lights though…could someone please let me know! It has really baffled me as I say!

I should add, I think one of the caller was from Shoreham-on-Sea. It appeared that their observation of these lights was extremely similar to my own observations…it was about 20 minutes later that these reports emerged on BBC Radio 5 live…some of the sightings were made not long before midnight.
