Witness Statement: At 9.20 pm Xmas day my neighbour and I were in my back garden facing north.
We saw a bright orange light travel from west to east at height between 1000 feet and 1500 feet at approximately 100mph making no sound whatsoever.
It was in view for about 30 seconds when it veered slightly to the left and out of sight.
15 minutes later together with the wife three of us saw two similar lights together a little further away for 10 seconds before disappearing in the same direction.
There was 40% cloud cover in the west and clear in the east, no wind at all.
I am the secretary of our local model aircraft club and very used to seeing and evaluating aircraft and their associated attitudes in the sky.
This was no aircraft and no chinese lantern.
Chinese lanterns do no fly at 100mph horizontally in calm wind conditions.
