Witness Statement: Looking north, Lyngford Lane towards Cheddon Fitzpaine, 3 Orange 'lights' (All sideway eliptically shaped) approx 20-30ft in length, 'formation flying' approx 100-150ft apart . Approx altitude 700-1000ft travelliing due east-west, range approx 1-1.5 miles . Ground wind speed at a guess less than 12 knots. Travelling faster than a rotor craft, slower than commercial jet or turbo prop, no noise at all,no flashing tail or wing lamps. Continued east -west into cloud after aprox 35 sec.
I get used to the traffic from RNAS Yeovilton, however, if this is military hardware then it must be something completly unknown (I've worked within the design sector of new rotor and fixed wing military and civil a/c for the last 25 years and this was not conventional in any description.
