Date of Sighting: 8/10/80
Time: 0200hrs
Witness Name: JDC
Witness Statement: While serving in HM forces on a night exercise myself and 4 other troop members observed a triangular object pass over our heads at about 100ft traveling east to west in the direction of foggintor tor a mile from Dartmoor prison , it turned at aright angle and headed in the direction of Over tor, the object moved at a low speed and was silent .The sighting was reported at debriefing back at our unit HQ. I was told not to speak about the incident as it was under enquiry with the MOD.

Probably an early stealth aircraft, or similar covert aircraft.

Simple question. Why didn’t either of you think to film or photograph this object, given the length of the sighting? Just asking.

i think you were meant to see that jdc and methinks the mod knows a lot more than you guys about what that was ,my suspicions are it was probably a top secret military spyplane or drone ,maybe keeping an eye on your progress…

Nice sighting. Am surprised this isn’t in the National Archives if the MOD were investigating. Can’t find it anywhere though. Why do you prefer to remain anonymous? I wouldn’t have thought you were in breach of the Official Secrets Act and if you were, they’ll be knocking on Andy’s door soon to flush you out
. Highly likely to have been something being tested akin to Steve G’s Warminster sighting around the same time.

Hi JDC, a very interesting sighting. The Vulcan can be ruled out at that height with no noise. Your debrief was also interesting.

Very interesting indeed.
9 years later another group of troops was on night exercises, trudging across Salisbury Plain from Beach’s Barn to Dunch Hill Plantation, and had some extraordinary experience involving a triangular craft.

there is a rumour about a new spyplane called the Aurora, it is said to be triangular in shape, it also has three lights on the underside (i think, may be wrong) does this fit what you saw?

The Aurora is rumoured to fly at great altitudes, if it exists, but you’re perhaps thinking of another internet rumour about a secret aircraft called a TR3B, also not known to exist.

Aurora, it is now widely believed, does not refer to a single aircraft, but to a series of projects intended to develop future high performance, presumably stealth, aircraft. Despite T Wood’s insistence it is common knowledge that the US, UK and – we can probably guess – other countries indulge in ‘black projects’, these being unofficial, off the record developments that lead eventually to such as the Blackbird SR71, the Stealth range of aircraft, and who knows how many others that we are yet to hear about? The TR3B is thought to be a product of the Aurora project and it is notable that triangle UFO’s, in most cases, are reported as featuring the correct red and white anti collision lights seen on earthly craft. I would say it’s very nice of the aliens to conform in such a manner.

Steve T I agree with your comment above. However, triangular sightings did occur in the 1920′s and 1960′s before Star Wars.

My youngest brother was with me when he had his first ufo experience, he joined the army and has worked in every war zone and lived near Salisbury, when he was in Bosnia he told that him and his army mates saw large UFO`s every night and they were told not to make an issue out of it , he said they are normal to see them and not unusual
