http://spaceweather.com/flybys/ sounds like the ISS which is currently going over us 3 times a night, put your home town in the link and then watch for another ISS pass and compare to what you saw.

I don’t agree Daisy, I saw the ISS pass over on the 9th in Wiltshire at about 11.40 pm. The ISS did not zig zag when I saw it? ISS is being used too frequently as a probable reason for mistaken UFO sightings to my mind, let’s see if anybody else saw this.

Hello Daisy Flame
The ISS does not zigzag.

I`d like to suggest an explanation for the zig zagging phenomena. It may be the human body adjusting its balance while looking upwards. A plain sky has no reference points and the body tends to sway. This is similar to looking at the bottom of a boat and becoming seasick.

Alan, I’d had a bit to drink Saturday when I saw the ISS go over. It didn’t even appear to zig zag after loads of alcohol…..get out of here!

I have observed a blue-white star-like light “meander” across the night sky, whilst I was leaning up against a wall. This was shortly after watching a pair of line-astern formation “lanterns” sequentially transform into the same incarnation, as they transited in an almost opposite direction.

Hi all, the Space Station was going over at the time of this
sighting.INFO-10Jun(22:49:27 10°WSW)(22:52:35 55°SSE)(22:55:44 10°E) Would have to assume that as 2 objects were not reported
and the station was in view, it was this observed by the O.P.
The extent of ZIG ZAG was not specified by the O.P. and could
be explained by Alan’s explanation.
I watched the 23:20 pass last night and the launch rocket for
the Dragon Resupply vehicle was 15/20 seconds in front of the
station although less bright, so we might see reports of lights chasing each other in the next few days?
For Station pass details see HEAVENS ABOVE..

Hi, I have actually just observed the ISS for the first time, and was amazed at how bright it was! I think i can explain the zig-zaging, as the object is travelling across the sky at an arc, with no reference points you perceive it as either travelling down, or across in your mind, which makes it feel as if it’s zig-zaging, eg moving across for a second, and down for a second.
At least, this is what i just experienced.
Anyway, thanks to this site for making me look up it’s position and get an amazing view!

I meant an arc across the sky, not an angle if the moderator wants to correct it for me
thanks……and a coma after ‘At least, ‘
Thanks
Andy M-corrected as requested.

@Peter, i know right? You’d think people on a UFO reporting site would be able to tell the difference between satellites and the unexplainable. ISS this ISS that, what a damn insult of intelligence

Either that or an Iridium satelite which pulse every 6 seconds or so then appear to zig zag. These are the cause of many UFO sightings all over the world.

Even though I had never seen it before, I watched what I thought might be the space station go over last night and noticed a very slight, irregular zig-zaging motion. It was moving fast and when it got overhead its brightness faded from very bright to completely invisible in about three or four seconds–which I assumed was because it crossed out of the sunlight and into the shadow of the earth. I then went in the house, got on the internet and found the ISS real-time tracking website, and sure enough it had just passed over. I’m still curious about the zig-zagging effect. It didn’t have any blinking or pulsing lights that I could see.

I saw the exact same thing heading north over Belfast last night sept 4th at approx 23:50. My initial thought was “wow that’s very fast to be a plane” then it made a sudden jump to the right before vanishing..could hardly believe my own eyes.

What I saw was not a satelite, it was too big and not high enough in the sky…it did not blink or pulsate.
