Pontefract West Yorkshire-October 2012
Location of Sighting: Pontefract West Yorkshire
Date of Sighting: October 2012
Time: 7:30pm
Witness Name: Andrew & Donna Brook
Witness Statement: At around 7:30pm on a Thursday evening in, i think October last year (2012) my wife and i were driving back home to Wakefield from A1 motor auctions (Manheim) in knottingley after an evening sale (we are a used vehicle motor dealer) and as we came very near to the Pontefract exit 32 my wife Donna was looking to the left and said to me “what the hell is that” as i looked over i also saw what looked like the old Vulcan aircraft as it had the same shape as the Vulcan, triangular shape, and looked to be banking over on its side, but what looked like only about 40ft above the ground, we saw no lights on the craft as its underside was facing away from us.
It was too late for me to come off at the junction as i was passed it by the time i saw it.
The craft looked to be moving very slowly, and anyone knows that an aircraft of this size needs to be going quite fast to stay airborne, it was about the size of a large detached house, sorry but it’s the only way i can describe its size, we were very close to it as it was just behind the trees at the side of the motorway.
I would not have taken it this far had my friend only 2 weeks ago told me he has seen the same thing more than one in the 16 year period he worked in Pontefract for whilst on his way home from work.
There looks to be some kind of outcropping going on there as we went back last month to have another look and show our son where we saw this strange thing.
I am not really a UFO geek but i have to say that i could be a believer now as there is no way that is was a regular aircraft.
My wife Donna is very anti UFO and alien, she certainly is a non-believer and hates things like this and finds it very boring to talk about as a rule, my god it’s even changed her mind lol.
What’s going on in Pontefract then?
If anyone would like to contact me about this sighting please feel free on andrewbrook4@o2.co.uk

Hi Im a taxi driver working in and around the pontefract area and i know for a fact that the local model aircraft club are are regular feature at the bottom end of pontefract park all year around.I am very often passing on the motorway, (mainly in the summer months)and see something moving out of the corner of my eye and think to myself ‘What was THAT?’ Maybe you really did see something truly anomalous i don’t know but i would check to see if they have got anything that matches this delta winged description in their inventory.I don’t know about it being the size of a house but i know some ‘model’ aircraft can be surprisingly large! Hope this helps. J

P.S. Check ‘large scale model Vulcan in flight’ on youtube. This display was at Elvington airfield outside York which is only half an hour away.Could it also have been flown at Pontefract maybe? Looks very impressive anyway. J

It could also have been the BAE Systems Taranis drone aircraft that the RAF were test flying out of RAF Leeming. They were at the airfield in September through December of 2012.

The Taranis hasn’t been test flown yet:
“It is to be flown for the first time in a series of tests over the Australian outback in the spring in an attempt to demonstrate the technology to military chiefs.” 13th Jan. 2013

Because Taranis hasn’t been flown does not mean something else has.

T – if it was a Vulcan at 40 ft the old Olympus engines would drown anything out and no doubt would have been in the local rag.
A and D – 40 ft low flying rule infringed – report it to the police and LB ATC. A very dim view id taken of this – civil – massive fine – prison, loss of licence. Military Court Marshal etc etc.
Darren where did your info on RAF Leeming come from? Have you seen it?
T – Taranis in Oz really? Its been flying, or an American cousin has been, up the M6 between Killington and Tebay for the last couple of years. A lorry driver put a report on this site seeing it late at night or early in the morning.
February 6th, 2013 at 12:54 pm
Nemo – if it made no sound then it obviously wasn’t a Vulcan then.
Perhaps the lorry driver on the M6 between Killington and Tebay saw a different object/craft entirely, and not the Taranis.

For once I agree with T Wood; it’s entirely possible that there are other craft flying out of the likes of Wharton that fit the description. After all, Taranis is not a ‘black project’ – it’s very much in the public domain – so if it has already flown, why not say so?
February 8th, 2013 at 11:45 am
T – I did say American cousin! At 40ft high a vulcan would just have to dip a wing and be in the ground. Secondly it was the size of a house – A vulcans bigger. This is a busy junction – know it well. What was it, whatever it was broke the low flying rule. Report it to ATC and see what they come up with?

Nobody seems to be listening… never mind eh?
February 11th, 2013 at 10:51 pm
You would think that after loging such a detailed account, &
‘Ts’ comment about any sound, yet, to date no responce from the original poster, perhaps this guy is just a messer!

Dead right Chris.

Original poster!! andrewbrook4@o2.co.uk should anyone wish to mail me.
Messer? Forgive me for pointing it out but we run our own used car business and simply have better things to do than read comments posted by other people whom clearly do have far too much time on their hands.
Let me tell you we saw what we saw that night and it cannot be explained, i am company director of my own business and not a Messer , numpty, waster, skint member, low life alien ufo anorak, or train spotter still living with my parents at 47… i think you get the message now.
I will not be posting any more comments as it was last year and this seems to be getting a tad boring now, so its end of for me, i don’t want any comments, i only posted it as a friend of mine suggested the idea.
O.M.G i can understand how travis walton feels now lol.

Hi Andrew,
On the 29th of January, T.Wood asked you a very simple question “did it make any sound”, and it took you all this time to respond.
For what it’s worth I think your sighting was very interesting, & out of common courtesy, when someone asks a question relating to your sighting, are you that busy that you can’t respond a little sooner.
And finally, no one cares about what you do for a living, stop trying to impress us, it’s not working.

And while we’re on the subject, for such a high-powered used car sales director, with better things to do,you seem to display a remarkable knowledge of the Travis Walton story…? come on… join us.. lets have you out of the closet! theres nothing to be ashamed of! (oh and don’t forget to bring your anorak, and wear it with pride!) LOL! (o:

Insulting the believers? How very dare you,Andrew?!?!?

The Travis Walton story does take some explaining though. For those who don’t know about him, there are plenty of videos about his story on the internet (for example):

“The Travis Walton story does take some explaining though”
I don’t think so. I’m on the side of those who believe it to have been a hoax.
