Toton, Nottingham-August 2012
Location of Sighting: Toton, Nottingham
Date of Sighting: August 2012
Time: 23:00ish
Witness Name: Paul Duke
Witness Statement: I’ve always been interested in ufo’s but until August last year I’d never seen one. I was standing in the conservatory waiting for the dogs to come in when I noticed a cigar shaped bright object passing slowly from West to East just south of me. I immediately assumed it was a plane on it’s glidepath befor landing at East Midlands Airport, and being just as interested in planes I watched it. To my amazement it suddenly ‘jinked’ left and then right and left again. so I took a lot more interest in it as I’d never seen a plane behave in that way before. There was no sound and no lights, just a white steady glow as if it were a glow-worm. This thing was the size of a 737 without the wings. All of a sudden it changed direction again and travelled North, heading to Beeston. At this stage I grabbed my Panasonic Lumix camera and tried to photograph it before it was out of sight but then it reversed it’s direction to the south and took up it’s original path towards the East. I don’t have a long focal length lens but I managed to snap one picture of it before it disappeared over the roof of the houses opposite and then it was gone. I haven’t seen anything since no matter how many times I’ve scanned the skies, but I’m convinced that what I saw was a ufo. I still have the photo if antone wants me to download it, but it’s a bit shaky to say the least as one can imagine. My very first ufo and I’ve got a photo of it, I feel quite proud of myself.

How fast was it travelling, Paul?

Well done Paul. There are some very strange things in our skies! I saw one myself (a flying saucer) in 2011, my first UFO sighting too. I now know for sure that these things, whatever they are, are very real.

Cigar shaped at night in a white steady glow? Jinking could be turbulence and correction. Sound like an aircraft downwind to turn final.

First, I’ll answer Steve T’s question. It was moving at a steady pace but at what rate of knots I’m not sure, slower that a plane would be in this area. I’m used to planes in this area as it’s on the flightpath to land at East Midlands Airport but the flightpath is more to the north of my location than this object was. Secondly, to answer Nemo’s comment. My object changed direction without banking either to the left or right, it just changed direction, thus I call it jinking. I had a clear view of the object and it had no wings and no strobe lights, just a continuous white glow without pulsing as a balloon might appear to do. I know I saw something strange and I’m positive it wasn’t a known aerial object. I wish I could see another. I now read extracts from the NASA landings on the Moon and It’s clear to me that something very strange happened to Armstrong whilst he was there. i’m of the opinion that the dark side of the Moon could be a staging post for these UFO’s.

“i’m of the opinion that the dark side of the Moon could be a staging post for these UFO’s”
Oh dear. A nice response ruined by a ridiculous conclusion.

The problem,as always, is evidence, Paul. Surely there are enough powerful telescopes pointing at the moon at any one time to pick up these UFOs making their way over to Terra Firma, particularly as we have no difficulty picking them up with the naked eye? Stands to reason to me. If they use cloaking devices, they ain’t very reliable.
