Ayr-September 2011

Location of Sighting: Ayr
Date of Sighting: September 2011
Time: 7.30pm
Witness Name: Anon

Witness Statement: I saw a large orange ball of light stationary above the water out towards Ayr bay before it moved very quickly in a straight direction towards Arran before it looked like it disappeared high into the sky. We look over Ayr bay so get a good view towards Ayr, Prestwick and the sea towards Arran.

I know the difference between Chinese lanterns and it definitely wasn’t one. It was also definietly not a plane, with Prestwick Airport so close by, you know the difference.

I have seen these lights on more than one occasion and will start recording the dates and times, the one in September last year was the first one I saw. I have also seen two similar orange objects above the Carrick Hills in Ayr, with the same stationary behaviour before moving off high into the sky at very high speed.

The way they move so quickly as well as being stationary for long periods is really strange and much too big to be lanterns.

On a holiday to Arran my mother claimed she saw orange balls of light dancing along the Firth of Clyde early in the morning as she couldn’t sleep…..this was over 20 years ago and we thought she was talking nonsense.

Having seen these strange lights myself makes me question what she saw.

Definietly some strange going ons!

  1. Hi Anon – In February of this year, my wife and I were walking back along the sea front at Ayr, just passing the Ayr India restuarant on Seafield Road, heading north towards the harbour, when we noticed a bright orange ball heading straight towards us from the direction of Troon/Prestwick. This object was coming at us at a fairly low altitude, and would have crossed the west end of the Prestwick Airport main runway. At first I thought it was a plane, but discarded that idea because it was crossing at almost right angles to the airport runway. I then thought it might be one of the rescue helicopters from the base at the far side of the airport, but as it came overhead there was absolutely no sound. The object then started climbing in altitude and did a suddent 90 degree turn and shot off at high speed up through the high level clouds, at an angle of inclination of about 45 degrees. As it disappeared through the clouds you could still see the glow from the object tinting the clouds. This too was definately not a chinese lantern.

  2. Hi Guys

First off I am not a believer in UFO’s from other planets but I cannot explain what I seen. Staying at the Mecure in Ayr on Saturday Morning 15th Sept I got up at 4.30am to close my window and spotted what I can only describe as 4 lit objects a boomerang shape on there side like how you hold it before throwing it.
Nothing out of the ordinary until they started moving violently across the sky, I at this point went back into the room took a deep breath and tried laughing off what I had seen but on returning to the window very much awake at this point I observed these lights moving across the sky for some 10 mins before they flew out of my view.
I waited for over 30 mins to see if they returned but they didn’t, can anyone explain this because I can’t

  3. Family members have seen a large fireball in the sky in Ayrshire previously, this was many years ago and have spoken to UFO experts about this, the airports have been contacted too but there was nothing coming in or out the airports at the time The sighting was about 10 years ago.
