  1. Hi Hillary, I think you were looking at Jupiter, which is very white and bright and to the left of Aldebaran (the brightest star in Taurus) at the moment. I’ve just checked and for that neck of the woods they’d have been NE of you at that time. Jupiter would have been the brightest object in the sky at the time and very noticeable. As to the odd shape I guess that could be some form of opcal illusion based on your specific viewing circumstances?

  2. I was coming home from working late that night and just outside Preston. A huge flying object came from nowhere and shot across the road I was driving and had huge purple lights at the rear of the object. I looking into the field to expect to see a crashed plane as it was too low to be flying a normal conventional plane. There was nothing there and there was no sound from the flying object. This was very strange and whatever it was it was travelling at a huge speed.

  3. I think you maybe saw this. A rare large earth-grazing meteor. I saw it from Rossendale (about 40 miles inland) It took about 40 seconds to travel between the east and west horizons.

  4. Boo, are you serious? Mark said the object shot across the road and you think its a meteor?

  5. Hi Alan,

On the link that Boo provided, there’s an interesting comment from
Ann Hansen (2nd from bottom on the comments).
