Location of Sighting: East Peckham nr Tonbridge Kent
Date of Sighting: 20th October 2010
Time: 12:15 pm
Witness Name: Colin Cade
Witness Statement: About 12.15 by the Man of Kent pub, near East Peckham Kent, looking at clear blue skies to the north, sun was almost behind me (as it would be at noon looking north) I saw what I thought was a star.
Amazing, I thought, a star visible in daylight. I watched it for some minutes, checking its position and assumed height, about 70 degrees altitude. I decided to text my daughter in Wales to check if she could see it. I looked again and it appeared to have moved slightly.
Looking carefully for a few minutes, I realised it was moving, towards me, or climbing in altitude. Very slowly, slower than any other airborne object. There was no sound, not much wind and a nice peaceful day.
Having watched hundreds of aircraft at all altitudes, and satellites, rocket bodies, Iridium flares and the ISS, I knew it was none of them.
It twinkled like a star, occasionally getting brighter with reflections from the sun I guess.
Very slowly it veered eastwards for about 45 degrees, then appeared to stop or slow down to a very slight movement. Finally it started to veer south before a cloud obscured it. Didn?t see it again after that.
This all took about 15 minutes or so.
Like nothing I have ever witnessed
I thought about weather balloons or long distance hot air type, but did not think that they could move that slow so high up.. and it was very high.
