Gateshead, Lobley Hill/Sunniside Area-3rd January 2011

Location of Sighting: Gateshead, Lobley Hill/Sunniside Area
Date of Sighting: 03/01/2012
Time: Approx. 20:00 – 21:00
Witness Name: Dog Walker

Witness Statement: While out walking my dog up the watergate area, heading from lobley hill towards sunniside, me and my friend noticed a bright light in the sky which at first we thought was a shooting star but suddenly stopped dead and shon brighter than before. We both stopped and gazed in amazement, trying to pinpoint what this could be, a chinese lantern, aircraft or shooting star? After taking our eyes off it for literally a second it had disappeared. Walking on, seconds up the path, a bright green light shot in a sidewards ‘S’ pattern before immediately disappearing. Funnily enough it looked as it was going to hit before quickly turning back. We both have never witnessed anything like this and come to a conclusion that neither us could explain what either of these lights were. Aircraft, lanterns, fireworks, light displays or even shooting stars cannot explain this so if anyone could shed any light on the situation i’d feel awfully grateful 🙂

  1. That’s freaked me out, because my girlfriend and I have just seen a firey object fly from north to south at tremendous speed with a long firey tail. I would have assumed shooting star, but I’ve never seen one so bright blaze all the time I was watching it. I live in the Heworth area and it flew directly overhead. This was at approximately 9.45 tonight.
