Location of Sighting: Near Crinan, Argyll
Date of Sighting: 20th June 2010
Witness Name: Stuart McInnes
Witness Statement: A clear sky, 4am, before sunrise. Driving along the Crinan Moss in Argyll I saw a bright white light over the north end of Jura. It was heading east and at first I thought it was an aircraft with landing lights, possibly on a descent into Glasgow. Being an aviation enthusiast I am familiar with the sight of high transatlantic air traffic and it is very unusual to see aircraft approach Glasgow on this route. This object seemed a bit lower than the usual 30-40,000feet high aircraft and I would guess more like 5-15,000feet. I stopped the car and got out to look as it wasn’t moving very fast at all. I waited until it was almost overhead. No wings or fuselage to be seen, just a bright ball of white light, 2-3 times brighter than aircraft landing lights and no sound. After about 10 minutes it stopped moving. Hovering without a sound (I was in a very quiet part of the country) for a few minutes it then moved off at a faster pace to the east before heading back to the same spot where it hovered again for a minute or so and then finally headed east again at a faster pace and out of sight.
