Northiam, Sussex-25th April 2011

Location of Sighting: Northiam, Sussex
Date of Sighting: 25 April 2011
Time: 20:50
Witness Name: Oliver Morris

Witness Statement: Two steady orange lights appeared very low from over a hedge just 100m away. Not point lights, but around the size of a small car. Their position would have been around 100m above Great Dixter House, Sussex. Light did not flash, completely silent. Certainly not an aircraft, having trained in aero engineering and lived and worked at Heathrow, I know aircraft. Then assumed they were chinese lanterns. So watched carefully for flicker and motion. Astounded to watch them clear to the southern horizon (Westfield/Hastings) in less than one minute (7miles). The evening was very still, I can imagine no wind to have moved them so fast. Saw similar from the same spot on December 31st 2010. Two orange lights again, this time they flew from south to north and were much higher. Again I thought chinese lanterns. But they reached a point above Northiam and just stopped, then rose vertically. Less convincing than the sighting on April 25th 2011, but noteworthy. Both sightings were very similar to other people’s sightings titled ‘Hastings, East Sussex-3rd May 2010’. You’d think lantern, but movement was impossible for lanterns.

  1. I saw big white light flying on the sky 27 Apr 2011 at 10:30 pm London. My boyfriend and I wore coming back from holiday and walking down the street to our home. Then we saw a big white light as bright as the stars flying from west north to north very slowly, then in just a blink of an eye the light went off and disappeared. It was strange because there was not other white or red blink light that planes and helicopters have. In my opinion it is a bit high for helicopter to fly high as it was flying and for a plane to have big light as a star. If you know what I mean!
