Winklebury, 10-20 miles NWW of Basingstoke-9th April 2009

Location of Sighting: ,10-20 miles NWW of Basingstoke
Date of Sighting: 9th April 2009
Time: 8.45pm
Witness: JR

Witness Statement: Driving to Basingstoke on the A339, approx 2 miles from the outskirts of Winklebury, I looked left and saw 5 or 6 orange lights in the sky, assuming almost the exact form of the ‘Plough’ (constellation). I was very suprised to see it so low and even more suprised to see all the ‘stars’ were a distinct orange colour. Even more unusual because it was a completely overcast night with no stars showing at all.
I’d estimate the formation to be approx over the Reading/Burghfield area, but my distance estimate may well be wrong, as I had no frame of referance for the size of the lights. The lights were stationary. I watched for about 5 minutes and didn’t notice any perceivable movement. Photos from my phone look rubbish I’m afraid.
