Witney-19th November 2012

Location of Sighting: Witney
Date of Sighting: 19/11/2012
Time: 6.05pm
Witness Name: Mike Dovey

Witness Statement: I was walking up Hailey Road in Witney (going towards the petrol station) at around 6.05pm (was dark at the time) when to my left I noticed a bright orange object in the sky (it was too far away and too dark to make out its shape, although it looked a kind of orb’ish shape). At first I thought maybe a plane was on fire, but then the object started accelerating to a very high speed, much faster than any plane I have ever seen in the sky. It was also travelling perfectly straight and with absolutely no sound whatsoever. If it was a plane on fire surely it would have dipped out of the sky, but it stayed perfectly straight and moved off into the distance until it disappeared behind some houses and off the horizon. It looked like it originated from around Brize Norton, a large and widely used airforce base in the area. We see many planes come into this air base, all have sound and travel at roughly the same speed. This object as I said was absolutely silent and travelled far, far quicker than any plane I have seen coming in or leaving the base. It was moving away from the base, and didn’t look to be climbing at all. I have never seen anything like this in my life.

  1. Fireball meteor.

  2. Hi Gary,

When Mike said “but then the object started accelerating to a very high speed, much faster then any plane I have ever seen in the sky” so, if I’m reading Mike’s post correctly, the object was at a speed, then accelerated.

How did you come up with your comments?, they bear no relation to this sighting
